LIBERTY KEY: Liberty, who are coached by former Kansas head coach Turner Gill, are doing every thing they can to earn their way to the FBS level in Division I but have been thwarted in their early attempts to move up. A great way to get the recognition they need is to pull off a victory over a top 25 ranked opponent.
Making that happen will be easier said than done. They’ll need returning quarterback junior Jash Woodrum to have an excellent season debut if they want to win their first ever game against an FBS opponent.
NORTH CAROLINA KEY: Liberty should be a feisty opponent but one the Tar Heels should be able to handle easily. And that’s despite the fact the Tar Heels have instability at quarterback with Marquise Williams and Mitch Trubisky. And also despite the fact the Tar Heels will be missing four starters in the secondary: Desmond Lawrence, Brian Walker, Donnie Miles, and M.J. Stewart.
Carolina’s depth should be enough to handle Liberty assuming that depth came to play and prove something to Larry Fedora.
