The Baylor Bears opened up their new stadium tonight in front of a national crowd on Fox Sports 1. In addition to showing off their new stadium they also unveiled a statue of former Bear and Heisman trophy winner Robert Griffin III.
Griffin won the Heisman in 2011 after throwing for 4,293 yards, 37 touchdowns, and accumulating a 189.5 quarterback rating. He was named an All-American in addition to his Heisman Trophy, and also won the Davey O’Brien Award, Manning Award, and AP Player of the Year Award. One could argue the reason why Baylor even has a new stadium is because of what RGIII accomplished in that 2011 season.
It would make sense then why Baylor would construct a statue of RGIII so soon after leaving the school. D’Brickashaw Ferguson puts it this way:
If youre the 1st Heisman winner at a Texas college youre gonna get a statue. Im surprised RG3's isnt 700ft tall&spouting oil & bbq sauce tbh
