Going 4 for 4 on kicks in a game may not seem that impressive when the longest field goal was only 36 yards, but in Sam Ficken’s case, it’s a huge deal. Given the fact that he missed a field goal in overtime to lose a game to Nebraska last year, and with the 1 for 5 field goal game in a 17-16 loss to Virginia in 2012 still on everybody’s mind, Ficken made a great psychological leap Saturday. To go perfect on kicks and make the game winning field goal is a major Blitz Points earner given what the senior kicker has gone through, regardless of how easy it was.
