The Auburn Tigers appeared to be on a mission in the second half against Arkansas to prove that last year wasn’t a fluke, and mission accomplished. After going into halftime tied at 21, the Tigers took over in the second half behind Nick Marshall and the defense, which had an interception returned for a touchdown. The final score ended up being 45-21, and Auburn likely won’t let up any time soon. Jeremy Johnson showed what he can do in Nick Marshall’s place at first, and Marshall was able to get the ball rolling en rout toward a blowout victory.
Meanwhile, San Jose State had a nice win as a Mountain West team against North Dakota 42-10, and this is a very good test for Auburn with the Spartans wanting to reach a bowl game this year after going 6-6 last year.
Prediction
This one’s not going to be close. Marshall is back and fully ready to go, and he’ll lead the Tigers to a bunch of early scores so they can bring in their starters by halftime.
