The Missouri Tigers luckily are back in the Top 25 of both polls after Maty Mauk’s 3 touchdown performance against South Dakota State last week. Now their test gets much tougher this week as they have to visit one of the best teams in the MAC. Missouri is still trying to prove that it’s a program and not a one-year wonder, but a 38-18 victory against South Dakota State didn’t to much to show whether or not they still belong in the Top 25. The offense appears to be in good shape, and there’s talent on the defense that should be enough to have allowed the Tigers to simply reload. Saturday’s game will give more of an indication on this team.
The Toledo Rockets, meanwhile, are 1-0 and appear to have a strong passing game with Alabama transfer Phillip Ely at quarterback. The junior had 337 yards and 4 touchdowns with no interceptions last week against New Hampshire, so maybe there is some untapped talent here. Toledo could be in prime position to win a wide open MAC that showed last week it is not that good. This game could be a determining factor in how ready they are to win their conference.
Prediction
This game will start out as a shootout before Missouri pulls away midway through the second quarter. The Tigers may have lost a lot of talent, but they are simply too good for this game to be that close for any period of time.
