Vegas Pac 12 Predictions

No. 17 Arizona State at New Mexico

Line: Arizona State by 25

The Arizona State Sun Devils had a very easy 45-14 win over Weber State last Saturday, led by very efficient quarterback play from Taylor Kelly and D.J. Foster dominance, with 147 yards and 3 touchdowns on the ground along with 26 yards receiving. This was a complete game for a team that should have had a complete game, so there is nothing to read into these Sun Devils yet. As they continue to try to push themselves into the Pac 12 elite, they’ll travel on the road this week to New Mexico, and despite that game looking like a flagrant mismatch, it’s no gimme.

The Lobos and coach Bob Davie may have lost to UTEP, but there were some good things done in that loss without the 3 turnovers committed. They ran the ball very well, with 184 yards from Cole Gautsche, 84 yards from Jhurell Presley, and 71 yards from Teriyon Gipson. Carlos Wiggins added 45 yards on just 3 carries, and in total the team had 410 yards on the ground. If that doesn’t mean much to you, it should, because the Sun Devils did allow a 100-yard rusher in Zach Smith for Weber State last week.

Prediction

New Mexico will be able to break off a couple of nice runs and use the running game to keep this closer than Sun Devils fans would like, especially with the game in Albuquerque. Arizona State will pull it out in the end, though, with its heavily balanced offense.
