Vegas Pac 12 Predictions

Memphis at No. 11 UCLA

Line: UCLA by 24

The UCLA Bruins managed to drop out of the top 10 this past week not because they lost, but because they won ugly. At least we know this defense will be able to play after scoring 3 touchdowns in the team’s 28-20 win over Virginia. Still, there are plenty of things this group needs to work out, particularly not having drives stalled. The Bruins had 7 punts despite some modestly efficient numbers by Brett Hundley, who went 20 of 33 for 242 yards. And the defense still wasn’t great, allowing 386 yards. It was just able to take advantage of breaks that went its way.

The Bruins’ struggles have given confidence to a Memphis team that comes into town thinking this is the year it finally gets back to a bowl game after a 63-0 victory over Austin Peay last week. Justin Fuente’s third year with the Tigers looks to show major improvement, and they’ll have a great sense of where they’re at after playing UCLA Saturday night. Just being in the game would be enough for these Tigers going forward.

Prediction

The Bruins won’t slip up again. They’ll refocus and make sure they dominate this Memphis Tigers team who is better but still doesn’t have the horses to compete with a team like UCLA. It’ll be over by halftime.

UCLA: 52 Memphis: 17
