Vegas Pac 12 Predictions

Arizona at Texas-San Antonio

Line: Arizona by 7

We might have a closer game on our hands here than initially thought. Texas-San Antonio simply stunned a Houston team on the road last Saturday that was looking to prove it was a contender in the American Athletic Conference. The Roadrunners defense forced hyped up quarterback John O’Korn into 4 interceptions as he went 21 of 43 for only 204 yards. The offense didn’t rack up a lot of yards, but they had a lot of short fields after the defense forced 6 turnovers. Now, they get to play host to a very high-powered offense and put that defense to the test again.

The Arizona Wildcats and Rich Rodriguez looked very good in their opening game blowout of UNLV, with Anu Solomon throwing for 425 yards and 4 touchdowns while Terris Jones-Grigsby and Nick Wilson each rushed for more than 100 yards. The game was definitely one for the fantasy stat sheets. Now, the Wildcats might be running into a much tougher mid-major team, and it’s on the road, so don’t think for a second they’ll be able to coast by. You can look at the turnover margin all you want, but Texas-San Antonio still only allowed 208 yards last week on defense. Their defense and the Wildcats offense both get great tests this week.

Prediction

Texas-San Antonio may have had an easy time with the pass-heavy Houston Cougars, but that won’t be the same case as they go up against a more balanced spread team. Their only chance this time will be to force a bunch of turnovers once again. They’re good enough to do that and keep this close for a half, but the Wildcats pull away by the fourth quarter.
