Vegas Pac 12 Predictions
Fresno State at Utah
Line: Utah by 10.5
In this match-up, one team is trying to prove it belongs with the big boys while another once to prove it can still play football without its star quarterback. Fresno State appeared to severely miss Derek Carr in the season opener against USC, as two different quarterbacks played and had a combined 4 interceptions. The pathetic defense, giving up 52 points, is another cause for concern, but let’s start with one thing at a time. The quarterback situation will have to be solved in a hurry if the Bulldogs are to have any chance of winning this game.
Utah, meanwhile, had a nice blowout win against Idaho State en route to getting back to playing its style of football as a member of the Pac 12. The Utes relied on big special teams plays, with 2 touchdowns from Kaelin Clay in that area, and they still had very efficient quarterback play from Travis Wilson. Dres Anderson had 100 yards receiving and Devontae Booker had 10 carries for 78 yards and 2 touchdowns, so there are some weapons here. Let’s see how they match up against some better competition now.
Prediction
The Utes will not have any trouble with Fresno State this week as the Bulldogs still try to solve their quarterback issues. Fresno State has no defense, and an inept offense will once again create a blowout loss to another Pac 12 school. This will put the Utes off to a very good start.
