Vegas Big Ten Predictions
Maryland at South Florida
Line: Maryland by 13.5
Maryland’s spread offense appeared to look great against James Madison with 3 rushing touchdowns from sixth-year senior quarterback C.J. Brown, nice plays from the healthy bunch of receivers back, and 471 yards of offense. But they had lots of trouble in the passing game with Brown in there, as he went 11 of 24 for 111 yards. For this spread to work throughout the Big Ten, he has got to improve on that, because this team can’t do what it did Saturday all season.
Fortunately, the Terps this week travel to play a South Florida team that allowed 31 points and 458 yards to Western Carolina, showing little improvement from last year’s 2-10 team. Maryland can’t take this team lightly, though, as it could pull off the inexplicable upset. Brown has to eliminate that by making sure he can be accurate in the pocket. Running too much makes him more prone to injury, as he’s been throughout his career.
Prediction
The South Florida Bulls may threaten Maryland a little bit in the first half, but the Terps will come away with the win pretty easily as they look to improve their passing efficiency. The rushing attack and defense will be fine for Maryland, securing the victory.
