San Diego State at No. 21 North Carolina

This might turn into a more exciting late night game than you’d think. The Tar Heels had a pretty easy 56-29 win over Liberty, but the defense did give up three touchdowns and the offense made some crucial mistakes, including a fumble and a safety. Those things will have to be corrected as Larry Fedora and UNC continue to try to build into a consistent top 25 program. Marquise Williams is still the starter at quarterback but will have to be more efficient after throwing 2 interceptions last week, and the defense can’t give up nearly 4 yards a carry to such a lowly football team as the Liberty Flames.
The San Diego State Aztecs are a very good Mountain West team that went 8-5 last year and got this season started off on the right foot with a win against Northern Arizona. With a solid running game, they’ll be looking to exploit potential issues in the UNC defense. Also, if they take care of the football, this could easily turn into a very interesting game against what appears to be a turnover-prone UNC team. The Tar heels can’t take this game lightly, and it’s definitely worth a late night watch to see if this team is on upset alert, even if it’s true that a lot of things have to go right for the Aztecs.
Prediction
San Diego State will force multiple turnovers and have a couple of very nice drives, but it won’t matter in the end. North Carolina will make sure they pull out the victory with a few big plays of their own, and the defense should be improved.
