Duke at Troy
Line: Duke by 19.5
It may have only been against Elon, but the Duke Blue Devils didn’t miss a beat and picked up right where they left off last year after a very successful season. Anthony Boone may have been discovered as the full-time starter at quarterback after going 22 of 33 for 247 yards and 4 touchdowns, and Josh Snead had 74 rushing yards on 12 carries while Shaun Wilson added 71 yards on 6 carries. Thomas Sirk and Shaquille Powell each had 54 yards on the ground, and Sirk had 2 touchdowns, making for a complete game. Now, the complete team gets to take its talents to Troy and develop even more. With David Cutcliffe at the helm, this team will continue to improve as the season goes on, and Troy should be an easy second tune-up game.
The Trojans play absolutely no defense, especially in the running game, evidenced by their 48-10 loss to UAB last week. To make this game even respectable, they’ll have to stack the line to hopefully stop the run and get pressure on Boone. It will be hard, though.
Prediction
This game will be equally as easy for Duke as last week. The Blue Devils will run away with this victory, and the offense will put on a clinic while the defense has no trouble. Expect big numbers once again.
