Baylor Bears QB Bryce Petty, WR Corey Coleman Will Dress But Not Play

Baylor Bears quarterback and potential Heisman candidate Bryce Petty will suit up but will not play against Northwestern State University tonight according a a report from David Smoak of ESPN Central Texas.

Petty was diagnosed with two broken transverse processes in his back this week after suffering the injury in last week’s win over SMU. One would think it would be wise for Baylor to wait until at least September 27 when the Bears play Iowa State on the road or maybe until October 4 against Texas. This of course assumes Petty’s back heals properly.

In addition to Petty, wide receiver Corey Coleman will miss tonight’s game with a hamstring injury, and running back Devin Chafin will miss with an ankle injury. Baylor was already without receivers Antwan Goodley due to a quad injury and Levi Norwood due to wrist surgery.

True freshmen receivers Davion Hall and KD Cannon will start in place of the injured receivers. Lynx Hawthorn and Quan Jones are also expected to see time tonight. Cal Spangler will return punts and Johnny Jefferson will return kicks.
