Duck Dynasty! Oregon Shoots Up College Football Rankings in Saturday Blitz Week 2 Top 25

2 of 6

1. Oregon Ducks- Def. Michigan State 46-27 (2-0, Last Week’s Position: No. 11)

This shouldn’t be a question here. The Ducks were down two scores to what everybody believes to be the best team in the Big Ten, and in typical Oregon fashion, dropped 28 straight points to win in what looked like a blowout. The Ducks have 2 wins and a major quality victory on their schedule, so they have earned the right to be No. 1 in our rankings for now. This team looks like it hasn’t missed a beat since last year, but can it keep it up this year? Only time will tell.

2. Texas A&M Aggies- Def. Lamar 73-7 (2-0, Last Week’s Position: No. 4)

The Aggies have earned this spot. Their win over South Carolina is as much of a quality win as anybody else’s win in this top 10, and they simply blew them out. It was so impressive that they’re allowed to play an easy team this week and still move up in the poll. Texas A&M blew out Lamar Saturday in typical, new-era Aggie fashion. This team looks loaded, young, and doesn’t appear to be going anywhere. For that, they deserve the No. 2 spot.

3. LSU Tigers- Def. Sam Houston State 56-0 (2-0, Last Week’s Position: No. 5)

LSU’s quality win over Wisconsin is about the same as Texas A&M’s win, but they struggled lots more. Still, a 56-0 win over Sam Houston State is enough to keep them in the top 5 of this list as they’re now 2-0 with a very strong victory against possibly the best team in the Big Ten and certainly the Big Ten West. Winning that opening game earned them the right to play an easy team for a breather this week and still remain in this spot.

4. Georgia Bulldogs- Idle (1-0, Last Week’s Position: No. 1)

This is unfair. As of right now, the Dawgs didn’t do anything to fall from the No. 1 spot after blowing out Clemson last week in what is still the most impressive victory for anybody on this list right here. In a rankings list where we have to nitpick between a bunch of 1-0 and 2-0 teams, Georgia only falls because they didn’t play this past week. They have a chance to jump right back up the rankings this week with a win at South Carolina Saturday.

5. USC Trojans- Def. Stanford 13-10 (2-0, Last Week’s Position: No. 15)

USC is back. And possibly should be higher. After a blowout win against Fresno State last week, the Trojans proved they could be a dominant team this year. A victory at Stanford solidified it. This team right now is in the thick of contention for the Pac 12 title, and there’s no reason to think it can’t do it. The Steve Sarkisian era has kicked off in style, and however ugly it was, a win at Stanford is a win at Stanford. There’s no reason to get into style points for that game.
