11. Baylor Bears- Def. Northwestern State 70-6 (2-0, Last Week’s Position: No. 8)
The Bears looked great in their blowout win of Northwestern State, and coming on the heels of a 45-0 win over SMU, they have won their first two games in a combined 115-6 score. However, neither win is enough to put them in the Top 10 yet, but there are games coming up for that.
12. Oklahoma Sooners- Def. Tuls 52-7 (2-0, Last Week’s Position: No. 9)
The Sooners were impressive in their blowout win over Tulsa, but like their competition for the Big 12 championship, there is still not enough of a quality win on this schedule yet to put them in the Top 10 with the wins others have on this schedule. Tennessee this weekend could be a decent test, though.
13. Ole Miss Rebels- Def. Vanderbilt 41-3 (2-0, Last Week’s Position: No. 13)
The Rebels are continuing to show that they could possibly compete for the SEC West Championship this year, and it’s why they definitely belong in the Top 15 for now. But Boise State and Vanderbilt are not great wins, so they haven’t done enough to move into the same category as the Top 4 teams in that division yet.
14. UCLA Bruins- Def. Memphis 42-35 (2-0, Last Week’s Position: No. 14)
The Bruins looked very mediocre in a win for the second straight week against two teams that are decent, but not that good. That’s why they’re down here right now. They haven’t looked like a Top 10 team yet, but hey, 2-0 is 2-0. They still have a very strong chance to win the Pac 12 South.
15. Arizona State Sun Devils- Def. New Mexico 58-23 (2-0, Last Week’s Position: No. 20)
For a few minutes, the Sun Devils looked as if they could be in danger of a devastating loss to New Mexico Saturday. But after pulling away for a blowout win, this team looks as if it may be ready to compete for the Pac 12 South on the same level as USC and UCLA. And they’ve certainly looked better than UCLA in their first two wins.
