21. Missouri Tigers- Def. Toledo 49-24 (2-0, Last Week’s Position: No. 22)
Maty Mauk looked great with the Tigers this past week, and it looks like the offense has missed a beat despite losing so many starters this year. Defense could still be a problem, though.
22. South Carolina Gamecocks- Def. East Carolina 33-23 (2-0, Last Week’s Position: NR)
South Carolina has earned itself back into the rankings after beating an ECU team that is much tougher than given credit for. The blowout loss to Texas A&M was bad, but this is still a pretty good team.
23. Clemson Tigers- Def. South Carolina State 73-7 (2-0, Last Week’s Position: NR)
The state of South Carolina is in much better shape this week after the two major teams won. Clemson’s win wasn’t anything impressive, but the loss isn’t anything to be ashamed of, so it’s fair to keep the Tigers ranked for now.
24. Michigan State Spartans- Lost to Oregon 46-27 (1-1, Last Week’s Position: No. 12)
Obviously the loss to Oregon is very disappointing, but this team was breaking in new linebackers against a very complicated spread offense. They still belong in the Top 25 for now.
25. Ohio State Buckeyes- Lost to Virginia Tech 35-21 (1-1, Last Week’s Position: No. 7)
This is still a very good team despite the bad loss Saturday night. Virginia Tech could be very underrated, so let’s wait and see how the rest of the season plays out. The Buckeyes should still be ranked for now, though.
