Saturday Blitz Pac 12 Power Rankings Week 2
In Weber State and New Mexico, ASU has probably played the weakest pair of opponents in the Pac. But the Devils have taken care of business and looked phenomenal in the process.
DJ Foster is the Pac’s leading rusher by nearly 100 yards and he’s averaging an incredible 10.7 ypc.
The most impressive aspect of Todd Graham’s tenure in Tempe has been ASU’s ascent from the Pac-12’s most penalized program to its cleanest. ASU has been the Pac’s #1 least penalized program the last two seasons and they are on pace to make it three in a row. Through two games, the Devils have only 60 yards of penalties. No other team in the Pac is even under 100.
In short, ASU has picked up right where it left off last year. The only real question with the Devils is how their rebuilt defense (replacing 9 starters) will respond when it faces a legitimate offense. But that won’t happen until late September when the Bruins come to Tempe for a Thursday nighter. For now it’s so far so good at ASU.
