Saturday Blitz Big 12 Power Rankings Week 2
4. Kansas State Wildcats 2-0 (1-0), Defeated Iowa State 32-28 Last Week
The Wildcats are fortunate to still be one of the top Big 12 teams after the way Saturday unfolded, but a win is a win, and it wasn’t as bad as you might think. The defense appears to be really good, and the offense was fine once it got going in a rhythm.
And there are playmakers on offense who will go all-out, as Tyler Lockett did on that game-saving catch Saturday to save the game against Iowa State. If players do things like that, then the Wildcats will be in very good shape as the season progresses throughout the year.
However, they had to fall to this spot for playing the game close after Iowa State was coming off of losing to an FCS school in North Dakota State. And they gave up a huge play on special teams coverage, surrendering a punt return for a touchdown, that could spell trouble for the rest of the season.
However, with No. 5 Auburn coming to town in just a little over a week, Kansas State has a great chance to move back up this list.
