Big Ten Power Rankings Week 2: Does Anybody Belong at No. 1?
Saturday Blitz Big Ten Power Rankings Week 2
7. Rutgers Scarlet Knights 2-0 (0-0), Defeated Howard 38-25 Last Week
Only winning a game against Howard 38-25 may not seem like a lot to put the Big Ten’s most surprising team so far in the top half of the conference, but Rutgers has represented its new conference well so far with Kyle Flood as the head coach. And they have a chance to stun a few people.
The Scarlet Knights were actually up on the Bison 38-13 before taking their foot off the pedal, and it appears they will have a great offense as the year goes on. Their win against Washington State last week is more than enough to keep them in this spot over the bottom half of the conference for now, even if the Cougars are worse than we expected.
The Scarlet Knights now have a great chance to prove how good they are this week in their inaugural Big Ten season as Penn State comes to town. That 8 p.m. game on the Big Ten network will show how real this team is, and it could make things very interesting.
For now at least, Rutgers hasn’t made headlines for embarrassing itself, which is why it belongs above the other teams.
