Beamer Ball is Back: Virginia Tech Shoots Up Saturday Blitz Week 2 ACC Power Rankings
Saturday Blitz Week 2 ACC Power Rankings
10. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 2-0 (0-0), Defeated Tulane 38-21 Last Weekend
Paul Johnson and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets continue to hang by a thread as a relevant ACC team. After not looking great against Wofford, a 17-point win against Tulane is definitely something to be happy about, and they look as if they’ll be able to go bowling again somehow.
But this still only looks like a 6 or 7-win team for now, and it could get worse as the season goes on. The defense could still be a little better for this team, and the offense wasn’t great last game. The win against Tulane was pretty ugly with three turnovers on both sides and the Yellow Jackets only getting 360 yards of offense.
Johnson still could be on his last leg with the Yellow Jackets if they don’t get to 9 or 10 wins this year, and the team could still easily be a 4-8 team. It’s just hard to get a read on these guys right now, the way it always is with a team that runs the triple-option offense.
The group hasn’t beaten anybody of significance yet to earn moving up this list, but if it keeps playing like this, that will change.
