Saturday Blitz Vegas Pac 12 Predictions Week 3

Wyoming Cowboys at No. 2 Oregon Ducks

Line: Oregon by 43

The Oregon Ducks appear to not have had any drop-off from last year after simply destroying Michigan State for four straight quick touchdowns to turn a two possession game against them into a route in their favor. Nothing appears to change with that spread offense, and Marcus Mariota looked like a Heisman candidate. That would appear to make the Ducks a sure bet to blow out Wyoming this weekend, but they’ll have to be careful. The Cowboys have a changing culture with Craig Bohl as their new head coach, and it’s built around an incredibly tough defense. Oregon will have to avoid turning the ball over, and Mariota will have to throw from the pocket if they want to live up to expectations for this game.

Wyoming, meanwhile, will want to keep this a low-scoring game by somehow milking the clock and relying on a very well-coached defense to get stops. That might come across as an impossible, but this defense is very opportunistic, having created two turnovers against Air Force that turned out to be the difference in the game. If the offense can manage a few decent drives and take care of the football while the defense forces the Ducks to win from strictly passing, the ball, this game might be closer than you think.

Prediction

Who am I kidding? Oregon is going to blow Wyoming out. The Ducks will be threatened early in the first quarter and maybe even the second, creating some excitement about an upset, then they’ll reel off a bunch of touchdowns in a row to make it look like they were never threatened.

Oregon: 59 Wyoming: 10
