Saturday Blitz Vegas Big 12 Predictions Week 3

No. 8 Baylor Bears at Buffalo Bulls (Friday)

Line: Baylor by 35

Although the Big 12 has plenty of exciting mid-level Power Five match-ups this week, this one kicks it off and doesn’t appear to be like that. Baylor has thoroughly demoralized its first to opponents, winning them by a combined score of 115-6. Last week it did so without Bryce Petty. This week, Petty is back, and the Bears will want to use him to get a quick lead early so they can pull him out and rest him. If not, this could become troublesome for Baylor. You need Petty to be in rhythm, but as your trying to get your Heisman candidate healthy, you don’t want to have to use him late in a game.

Buffalo, meanwhile, has taken part in two straight shootouts against Duquesne and Amry en route to a 1-1 record. The offense has a passing game ranked 13th in the country with 349.5 yards a game lead by Joe Licata, but the defense and running game still has lots of work to do. For the Bulls to pull off the upset, they’ll somehow have to match Baylor score for score behind Licata’s arm and find some magical way to get a few stops.

Buffalo will score at first and have some momentum as Bryce Petty is still getting back in rhythm. That’ll last for about 5 minutes. Baylor will then run away with the win, just like the Bears have done the past two games as they avoid any real competition. Petty’s Heisman campaign will get back on track as well.
