Saturday Blitz Vegas SEC Predictions Week 3

UCF Knights at No. 20 Missouri Tigers

Line: Missouri by 10

The Missouri Tigers have fought their way back into the Top 25 after gaining no respect going into the season due to the loss of so many starters going into the season. Now, after 8 passing touchdowns to 2 interceptions for new starting quarterback Maty Mauk, including 325 passing yards and 5 touchdowns plus another rushing last Saturday, fans are excited about their new situation. But pump the brakes. Mauk still hasn’t shown himself to be good against a very competent defense yet, and the defense has struggled a bit the first two games. Those things have to start changing with UCF coming to town.

The Knights will be the Tigers’ toughest test so far and are coming off of a bye week after nearly beating Penn State in Ireland two weeks ago. This team is still trying to replace Blake Bortles at quarterback and was only in that game due to 3 Penn State turnovers. Their defense looked awful, allowing more than 500 yards of offense, but the offense, particularly quarterback Justin Holman, looked very good in the second half. If they repeat that against a weak Missouri defense, they could turn this game into a shootout and potentially steal a victory.

Prediction

Missouri will have a field day against the UCF defense as Mauk has another game where he racks up a ton of yards and a lot of points, but the defense will struggle with a pretty good UCF offense. The Knights will never be out of the game, but Missouri pulls away late for a high-scoring win.

Missouri: 38 UCF: 28
