Saturday Blitz Vegas ACC Predictions Week 3

Wake Forest Demon Deacons at Utah State Aggies

Line: Utah State by 15

This is a game between a mid-major program in its peak and a Power Five program barely crawling out of the bottom of the cellar. Wake Forest is 1-1 coming off of a 23-7 win against Gardner Webb, but it is still looking like a program with nothing in Dave Clawson’s first year. The Demon Deacons offense is a loss, as all of them are on Clawson’s first team, so if they are going to win this game against Utah State they will have to find a way to contain Chuckie Keeton and that high-powered group on defense. And perhaps the Aggies will have a bad enough defense to allow Wake Forest to score a few times.

The Aggies, meanwhile, will just look to Chuckie Keeton to do what he does and pick up lots of yards on the ground and through the air. His struggles against Tennessee from two weeks ago are a concern because Wake Forest’s defense isn’t bad, but it’s not great either. Keeton will have to make a few good plays, and the defense will have to make sure it doesn’t make any errors because the key to beating this team this year is taking advantage of how terrible its offense is. That’s how it will be for the entire year for teams that play Wake Forest.

Prediction

Chuckie Keeton won’t have a great game, but he’ll put up enough points for the Aggies to win the game. The offense for Wake Forest won’t be able to do anything, and Utah State will win pretty comfortably. But don’t panic Demon Deacons fans. Clawson’s offense will be very good in a year. Just accept this year as a loss.
