15. South Carolina Gamecocks: 2-1 (1-1), Defeated Georgia 38-35 Last Saturday

Last Week’s Position: No. 22

The Gamecocks are right back in the thick of the SEC championship and college football playoff race. They are also in complete control of their own destiny with their sole loss coming to a non-division opponent. Steve Spurrier has Gamecocks nation excited again, so take notice everybody.

14. Penn State Nittany Lions: 3-0 (1-0), Defeated Rutgers 13-10 Last Saturday

Last Week’s Position: No. 17

It’s not pretty, but Penn State keeps on winning. The Nittany Lions now have a great chance to compete for a Big Ten championship with their sanctions lifted and the Big Ten so bad. A close win over a Rutgers team that is much better than people thought is a great start to that.

13. Arizona State Sun Devils: 3-0 (1-0), Defeated Colorado 38-24 Last Saturday

Last Week’s Position: No. 15

The Sun Devils looked very good in their Pac 12 win over Colorado last Saturday and have put the college football world on notice that they can compete for the Pac 12 championship. But things took a sour turn with the news that quarterback Taylor Kelly could be out until mid-October. They’ll have to hold on until then.

12. UCLA Bruins: 3-0 (0-0), Defeated Texas 20-17 Last Saturday

Last Week’s Position: No. 14

The Bruins keep finding ways to win as they are winning ugly. But this time they had an excuse with quarterback Brett Hundley going down with an injury. Eventually, though, this luck could run out, so Jim Mora’s team needs to refocus as quickly as possible when Pac 12 play begins.

11. Missouri Tigers: 3-0 (0-0), Defeated UCF 38-10 Last Saturday

Last Week’s Position: No. 21

The Missouri Tigers might not be going anywhere under Gary Pinkel. With three big wins now and Maty Mauk playing very well, the loss of talent has not appeared to be a problem so far. This is the same UCF team that took Penn State to the wire, and Missouri simply thumped them. Keep an eye on this team going forward.
