Upset Saturday: Week 3 Shakes Up Saturday Blitz Top 25
10. Ole Miss Rebels: 3-0 (1-0), Defeated Louisiana Lafayette 56-15 Last Saturday
Last Week’s Position: No. 13
At some point the Rebels are going to be seriously tested, but so far they have looked better than advertised this year, blowing out all of the mediocre teams in their path. This is definitely a team that could make noise in the SEC West, which is shaping up to be the toughest division in college football history.
9. Baylor Bears: 3-0 (0-0) Defeated Buffalo 63-21 Last Saturday
Last Week’s Position: No. 11
The Bears are continuing to throttle inferior competition and definitely look like a championship-caliber team in a Big 12 conference that could be much tougher than initially thought. The play of Baylor is setting up for an epic showdown between them and Oklahoma later this season.
8. Oklahoma Sooners: 3-0 (0-0), Defeated Tennessee 34-10 Last Saturday
Last Week’s Position: No. 12
The Sooners looked great on defense in their first real test of the season. As the year goes on, Trevor Knight has to improve, but the blowout was Tennessee was a nice way to measure the team as Big 12 play gets set to begin soon. They are very much a legitimate playoff contender.
7. Auburn Tigers: 3-0 (1-0), Idle Last Saturday
Last Week’s Position: No. 10
The Tigers had the week off but look very good with their blowout win over Arkansas to start the season this year after the Razorbacks blew out Texas Tech. Now they get a very nice test with an intriguing match-up against the Kansas State Wildcats this Thursday. That’ll be one worth watching.
6. Notre Dame Fighting Irish: 3-0, Defeated Purdue 30-14 Last Saturday
Last Week’s Position: No. 9
The Irish didn’t look great in their victory over Purdue, but a win is a win, and it can be forgiven based on how great they looked against Michigan the week before. This is a team that is right back in the thick of the college football playoff race this year as Brian Kelly continues to build the program.
