Saturday Blitz Conference Power Rankings Week 3
3. Pac 12
The Pac 12 is still a very deep conference and is among the best in college football. But it could be in a bit of trouble given some of the things that happened this past Saturday, especially when you look at the Pac 12 South.
USC’s loss to Boston College was bad enough. Take into account that UCLA struggled again against Texas and could have quarterback issues with Brett Hundley getting hurt, and the luster behind the USC-UCLA game doesn’t look as good as it did last week. Arizona only beat Nevada by a touchdown. The there’s Arizona State, who just lost its quarterback in Taylor Kelly. None of these are good looks for the conference and especially that division.
Fortunately, the Pac 12 North carried the torch for the conference this past weekend. Washington’s blowout win over Illinois was a good win, Oregon and Stanford took care of business, and Washington State finally got its first win, albeit against Portland State. The conference as a whole is still in a fight for that No. 2 spot, and the 2-4 ranked conferences are not that far apart. But for right now, the Pac 12 hasn’t done enough to move past No. 3. USC loss to Boston College played a big role in that.
