Saturday Blitz Week 3 SEC Power Rankings

6. Georgia Bulldogs, 1-1 (0-1), Lost to South Carolina Gamecocks 38-35 Last Saturday

The Georgia Bulldogs are still very much in the race for the SEC Championship and a berth in the College Football Playoff. The loss to South Carolina is not enough to drop them too far down the list of SEC Power Rankings when you consider that they were in that game on the road until the end, and they have one of the best quality wins of anybody in the conference still three games into the season.

This team still has a great offense with Todd Gurley running the ball as long as the coaches actually use him when he’s supposed to be used (which they didn’t Saturday). It also is very loaded on defense despite struggling at times Saturday against the genius of Steve Spurrier.

There’s no reason to panic just yet for Georgia, and don’t ignore that South Carolina is a very good team. The Bulldogs still showed how good they are when they blew out Clemson to open the season. The only question for the Dawgs is if Hutson Mason can develop into a playmaker instead of just a game manager. Georgia finally gets a breather with Troy coming to town this week and the Vols at home next week. Then a fun October schedule begins.
