SEC West Dominates in Week 3 SEC Power Rankings
Saturday Blitz Week 3 SEC Power Rankings
1. Texas A&M Aggies, 3-0 (1-0), Defeated Rice Owls 38-10 Last Saturday
Texas A&M moved back up into the top spot not just because they are 3-0 and blew out Rice, but ironically because of what happened elsewhere in the conference. South Carolina proved it is a very good team with its upset victory over Georgia Saturday, and that says more about Kevin Sumlin and the Aggies than it does anything else. His team destroyed that same South Carolina team in Columbia two weeks earlier, and that is still the best looking win any SEC team has so far this year.
Kenny Hill is earning his Kenny “Trill” Nickname after two dominating performances, and Texas A&M looks as much like a national title contender as anybody else in the conference. This is a team that has stockpile up on recruits, and the defense looks much better this year as well.
For now, the Aggies have earned the top spot on the SEC Power Rankings, and unfortunately they won’t be tested enough over the next three weeks for us to have much of a better read on them. SMU is this week, then the schedule gets a bit better with Arkansas and Mississippi State. But the brutal SEC slate doesn’t really pick up until mid-October. For now, though, the Aggies have earned the top spot.
