SEC West Dominates in Week 3 SEC Power Rankings
Saturday Blitz Week 3 SEC Power Rankings
11. Arkansas Razorbacks, 2-1 (0-1), Defeated Texas Tech Red Raiders 49-28 Last Saturday
Bret Bielema and his Razorbacks can’t be slept on now. They join the rest of the loaded SEC West as a potential Top 25 team. After a blowout loss to Auburn to start the year, Arkansas has moved to 2-1 with a very impressive blowout victory over Texas Tech on Saturday. This victory is more of a quality win than anything Tennessee or Kentucky have had yet this year, and the loss to Auburn is not as bad of a loss to Florida and Oklahoma (although neither are bad losses).
The Razorbacks are now among the huge cluster of SEC teams that look like they could be very good this year. It’s simply getting to be too many. Their rush offense looks as good as any in the country, and that could be enough for them to get to 6 wins. Heck, the running game looks as good as Auburn’s so far, even if the defense doesn’t. This is a much better team than last year that is finally showing significant improvement.
A game against Northern Illinois this week will be a chance for Arkansas to move to 3-1 and really make a statement, and then the fun begins with Texas A&M the next team on the schedule. Arkansas will have to pull off an upset somewhere in the SEC to get to 6 wins, but that’s very plausible with how good this team appears to be, especially if they keep running the ball the way they have been running.
