Saturday Blitz Vegas SEC Predictions Week 4

Florida Gators at No. 3 Alabama Crimson Tide

Line: Alabama by 14.5

Remember in the late 2000s when these two teams were the face of the SEC? Well, both are undefeated going into this game, but that’s not the case this time. Florida looked like they were back and ready to prove something after a blowout win over Eastern Michigan two weeks ago, but after needing three overtimes to beat Kentucky, the questions are back. As is the Will Muschamp hot seat talk. The Gators have fortunately shown they have a very good defense, and with questions still out there about Alabama’s quarterback play, they’ll want to force Sims into making mistakes this weekend. If they can do that, and if Jeff Driskel and the offense can make a few plays, this could be a shocker.

Alabama, meanwhile, needs to stick with Sims and do its best to keep him from making any serious mistakes. The defense should be fine but can’t be put in bad positions. As long as the offense makes plays and comes through when it needs to and avoids losing the game, they should be fine. But that could prove tricky with Florida’s defense. The Tide rushing attack will have to be the X-factor with T.J. Yeldon, Derrick Henry, and Sims when needed to keep the offense moving and allow the defense to be its usual dominant self. If that happens this will be an easy win.

Prediction

Sims will make a couple of mistakes early in the game, but it won’t matter. The Alabama running game and defense combined with the terrible Florida offense will allow for the Tide to come away with a solid victory. Sims will have a few nice plays to make up for his mistakes too, and this game will only increase the heat on Muschamp.

Alabama: 27 Florida: 14
