Saturday Blitz Vegas SEC Predictions Week 4

No. 14 South Carolina Gamecocks at Vanderbilt Commodores

Line: South Carolina by 21.5

Just when everybody was ready to write off South Carolina, they come up with a huge win under Steve Spurrier and are back in the mix as an SEC and national title contender. Dylan Thompson looks very accurate, and that defense is finally starting to adjust more to the 3-4 switch. Now, they travel to Vanderbilt and will want to continue to use Thompson to improve on his accuracy. The defense needs to be on its heels, though, as it is still adjusting and going up againat a Vanderbilt team that just made a major switch at quarterback that could reverse its fortunes.

The Commodores look like they learned last week that Patton Robinette is the guy at quarterback after he led them to a thrilling come-from-behind victory over UMASS last Saturday. Robinette has no turnovers on the year and can make plays when needed, which is huge for this team right now. If the defense can somehow create lots of turnovers and capitalize the way it did last week, and if Robinette completely turns around the offense, watch out for this Vanderbilt team. Perhaps it could give South Carolina more of a run for its money than we thought.

Prediction

South Carolina and Spurrier will be shocked early by Vanderbilt’s improvement with Robinette in as the starter, but it’ll only last a quarter. The Gamecocks are getting much better each week, and they won’t let up on Saturday as they pull away with an easy win in Nashville.
