Just when we began to get skeptical of the Washington Huskies in the first year of the Chris Petersen era, they finally put on a complete performance against the Illinois Fighting Illini en route to a blowout victory. The offense obviously just needed Cyler Miles, and the defense simply needed a wake-up call. Now, with Georgia State coming to town, the Huskies have a chance to go 4-0 if their defense can handle a high-powered Georgia State passing attack this week. Luckily, the Huskies showed how good their pass defense is last week after giving Illinois quarterback Wes Lunt hell. A repeat of that along with the effective use of the balanced but run-oriented offense should assure the Huskies a victory.

Georgia State, unfortunately, has to stick with that heavy passing attack that Washington stopped last week. That’s the only way the Panthers can win this game, but fortunately for them Washington has already been caught napping twice this season en route to almost being upset. That absolutely terrible defense should stack the line and force Miles to throw the ball because the Huskies have mainly relied on the running game so far. If they can do that and stick with their strong passing game, this could get fairly interesting.
Prediction
Georgia State will hang around with Washington for a little while, but it won’t last long. Maybe a quarter. The Huskies are finally refocused and will churn out another blowout win, finally giving their fans something to be excited about as they move to 4-0 and possible back into the Top 25.
