Saturday Blitz Vegas Pac 12 Predictions Week 4

No. 2 Oregon Ducks at Washington State Cougars

Line: Oregon by 23

The Oregon Ducks take their stretch of blowing people out to Pac 12 rival Washington State this week. This game would appear to play right into Oregon’s hands, as the Cougars are a team that like to run a lot of plays and don’t worry about defense. Oregon is probably licking its chops to have Marcus Mariota put up a ton of touchdowns, but they can’t get too far ahead of themselves. The defense will have to show up as well and keep the Cougars and Connor Cook from scoring at will in what has been referred to as the Mike Leach “Playstation Offense.” Then they’ll also have to live up to their great offense hype once again.

Washington State may be 1-2 after two upsets to open the season, but this is still an offense that could catch you off guard any time. Unfortunately, this game they’ll have to match Oregon score for score. They certainly are capable, though, of coming close to doing that in Mike Leach’s offense. If Connor Halliday gets going and they don’t have many turnovers, they could give the Ducks a serious scare, but it will take everything in the tank. And the defense is going to have to find a way to create a few turnovers as well. Those two things could help the Cougars pull off an upset.

Prediction

Get ready for good ol’ Pac 12 football basketball scores. The Cougars are beginning to regroup, so the offense will put up points like Mike Leach teams do Saturday. But the defense will surrender points just like Leach teams do, only this time to Oregon. Both teams run lots of plays and will have lots of possessions. Yet as high scoring as this game will be, Oregon wins in a blowout, capitalizing off a terrible Cougars defense and the certainty that they will have turnovers.
