Saturday Blitz Vegas Big Ten Predictions Week 4
Western Illinois Leathernecks at Northwestern Wildcats
Last week’s bye could not have come at a better time for Northwestern, who is at 0-2 after lots of hype in the offseason suggesting they would return to winning. So far, the passing game has been decent, but Trevor Siemen can’t finish drives, and the running game has been atrocious. While the defense hasn’t been terrible, it’s been below average so far and will have to step it up if the Wildcats are going to turn it around this year. This weekend they need to work on finishing drives, improving in the running game, and stopping people on a more consistent basis if they are going to start to win football games.

The Leathernecks aren’t a bad team to be tested agains, as they do have a pretty tough defense and are 2-1 so far, with their only loss coming to Wisconsin. Northwestern can’t take this team too lightly, especially with the way it has played so far.
Prediction
The Wildcats will have enough nice plays by Siemen and on defense to get the win, but it will be much uglier than people would like to see. After Saturday, analysts will still question if Northwestern has anything to even compete in the Big Ten.
