Saturday Blitz Vegas Big Ten Predictions Week 4
Bowling Green Falcons at No. 19 Wisconsin Badgers
Line: Wisconsin by 27
The Badgers are coming off of a bye week with a 1-1 start and looking like they could still be the best team in the Big Ten. As they get set to take on a high-powered, quick scoring Bowling Green offense, they simply need to play Wisconsin football. The high-powered rushing attack with Melvin Gordon and Corey Clement is all they need to rely on consistently. But also, Tanner McEvoy and the Wisconsin receivers need to show that they have made some significant improvement during the bye week. Looking good against Western Illinois doesn’t make up for how bad they were against LSU’s defense two weeks ago. With Bowling Green’s capabilities to score quickly, the passing game will have to come through at times in order for the Badgers to make sure that this doesn’t turn into a heartbreaking loss.
Bowling Green, meanwhile, doesn’t look like it missed a beat after losing starting quarterback Matt Johnson for the season. James Knapke has come on strong and led the high-powered Falcons offense to two victories, including one over Indiana. To beat Wisconsin, though, they need to continue to do that, only this time against a very tough pass defense. They also need their terrible defense to force the Badgers into throwing the football somehow. Then, if they can do that, they have to find ways to create turnovers off of it since they can’t really stop anybody. Doing all of that will be very hard, but it gives them a chance to get the win.
Prediction
Bowling Green’s offense is going to hit a wall this weekend, and it obviously won’t be able to fall back on the defense. This will turn into a bad loss for the Falcons, as the Badgers will run it down their throat. Then they’ll use the spare time to develop the passing game a little bit more, which will also make a few plays. The Falcons will score some points on offense, but it won’t be nearly enough. Wisconsin wins easily.
