Saturday Blitz Vegas ACC Predictions Week 4
North Carolina Tar Heels at East Carolina Pirates
Line: East Carolina by 3
The North Carolina Tar Heels are coming off a bye week in which they dropped out of the Top 25 because of how questionable they have looked the first two game. While the offense has been fine for the most part, the defense has turned into a huge question mark. And here’s the worst part: the pass defense is the biggest weakness as they travel to East Carolina, which has an amazing passing game. For the Tar Heels to win on Saturday, the offense has to remain balanced and make lots of plays, and the secondary will have to show up. Last game they at least had 3 interceptions along with giving up 341 yards. This time around, they’ll need to hold Shane Carden in check and try to force a few more interceptions.
The ECU Pirates, meanwhile, need to turn this into an air raid attack. Let Shane Carden throw the ball all over the field against that suspect Tar Heels pass defense the way he has so far this year, and as long as those throws don’t turn into interceptions, this could definitely be a win for the Tar Heels. East Carolina’s defense has faced some pretty tough competition going into this game, and they’ve played pretty well, so the biggest thing for them is to keep playing the way they’ve been playing. If that happens and Carden has a field day, ECU will pull out the victory at home.
Prediction
East Carolina will pull out the victory at home. They will have an easier time with the UNC offense than they had with the Virginia Tech or South Carolina offense, and Shane Carden is going to torch that secondary for lots of yards and points. It will be enough for the Pirates to get a close win at home.
