Just when you thought the Hoosiers were done, like the rest of the Big Ten, Indiana shows up and stuns the college football world by upsetting the No. 18 Missouri Tigers on the road. Make no mistake about it, Coleman was the reason for the upset. While his stats were good, it wasn’t the numbers that put him on this list. It was the fact that he came through in the biggest moments to change the game on top of having good stats.
First, when the Tigers and Hoosiers were tied at 17 and Indiana had the ball on its own 18 yard line, Coleman broke off a 49-yard run to set up a touchdown pass one play later and give the Hoosiers a 24-17 lead. Then came the huge play late in the game with the Hoosiers down 27-24 and less than a minute ago. One play after the pass interference that saved Indiana, Coleman had a 44-yard reception down to the 7-yard line to set up what turned out to be a game-winning touchdown. These are nice plays, but you can’t simply measure how great they are by looking at a stat sheet. You have to watch the game sometimes, and if you used your eyes, you could see that Coleman changed that game.
