Yes, two Alabama players belong on this list. Blake Sims deserved his spot because he proved that he belongs as the Alabama starting quarterback and is now making as much noise as AJ McCarron did. But Amari Cooper is a big reason for that. The receiver, who will be an NFL star, came down with 201 receiving yards and caught the 79-yard touchdown from Sims to tie the game at 17 in the first half. Cooper then caught two touchdown passes to extend the Tide’s lead late in the game, including one from Jacob Coker.

A star wide receiver, Cooper is a big reason that Sims has been able to look as good as he has looked so far this season. If the two keep this up, it could become the best quarterback-to-receiver combination Alabama has had in a long time. Keep an eye on that. But at least on Saturday, Cooper was there every time Sims, and Coker, and the rest of the Alabama football team and coaches, needed him. He turned a close game into a blowout against a very good Florida defense.
