Saturday Blitz Conference Power Rankings Week 4
So the Big Ten is not as bad as we thought it was. As we get set to reveal our conference power rankings for this week, it’s time to give that conference a bit of respect.
After a horrendous two weeks for the conference where almost all of its major teams lost non-conference games to other Power Five schools, and plenty to non-Power Five schools, the conference gained some respectability back after a great weekend.
The Big Ten was 12-1 in non-conference games Saturday and 4-1 against Power Five schools. Iowa and Maryland started it off by upsetting pretty good ACC teams on the road in Pittsburgh and Syracuse respectively. Although the Orange may be questionable, Pitt was 3-0, including a 10-point win against Boston College, who beat USC.
And that was just the beginning.

After Bowling Green upset Indiana last week, Wisconsin set things right and blew out the Falcons 68-17. And speaking of the Hoosiers, Indiana stunned SEC opponent Missouri 31-27. Nebraska added the best icing on the cake by controlling the game against another good ACC school, Miami, and winning 41-31. Rutgers also had a good win against Navy, and even Purdue won.
Only Michigan lost to Utah, but who trusts Michigan to do anything right these days in making the Big Ten look good? Brady Hoke is essentially trying to survive in a brazen bull seat.
The rest of the college football world looked about what we expected it to look like over this past weekend with heavy conference play set to begin this week finally. Was the Big Ten redemption enough to move them up our conference power rankings? Did the non-Power Five rankings stay the same? What about the Power Five?
