Saturday Blitz Conference Power Rankings Week 4
10. Sun Belt
Order is restored at the bottom of the college football barrel. Once again, the Sun Belt looks terrible. It finally looks as bad as it was expected to be at the beginning of the season. There are at least 10 FCS schools that could have winning seasons playing football in this conference.
The conference flat out embarrassed itself, as expected, with a 1-7 record in non-conference games. The only saving grace was Arkansas State upsetting Utah State in a battle between two mid-major teams who are likely the best in their respective conferences. To be fair, you can’t blame the conference for trying, with three games against Power Five opponents in Georgia, Washington, and Illinois on the slate.
For two glorious weeks to open the season, we were beginning to think the Sun Belt wasn’t the worst conference in college football. But reality has finally set in after four weeks, and there’s no denying that the conference is right back where it belongs. However, one decent excuse is that there are a number of teams who just came out of FCS play and are trying to prove themselves in FBS. What would you expect at that point?
