Saturday Blitz Conference Power Rankings Week 4
9. Mid-American Conference
We understand that being stuck with a bunch of FCS schools would make the Sun Belt awful, but the MAC has no excuse. Not that it’s supposed to be a great conference, but through four weeks of the season, the only claim to fame for this conference is that Bowling Green upset Indiana last week, and it may have helped a bit that Indiana upset Missouri this week. That still doesn’t explain the incredibly high number of losses the conference has had to other non-Power Five conferences.
Once again over this past weekend, Miami (Ohio) lost to American Athletic Conference school Cincinnati, and Marshall blew out Akron. Face it. There are a couple of good teams in this conference, but it is a terrible conference overall. And it should have been better than the Conference USA, which is the former Sun Belt conference. But the conference is 0-5 against Conference USA teams, so let’s talk about embarrassment.
The MAC has a few decent teams that could make some noise in major college football conferences, but for the most part it is barely above the Sun Belt’s level this year. There’s not much to be excited about with the conference, so it belongs at the bottom of our conference power rankings.
