Conference Power Rankings Week 4: Big Ten Redemption, but is it Enough?

Saturday Blitz Conference Power Rankings Week 4

3. Big 12

It was a calm week for the Big 12, but the conference didn’t do anything to hurt itself, and it has now risen one spot into the No. 3 ranking after being No. 4 last week. Part of that is the ACC’s downfall, but another part of that should be credited to Kansas State and how it played against Auburn.

While the Wildcats did lose the game, they did give the Tigers a huge fight that went down to the wire, which is enough to say that many of these Big 12 teams are legit. Add in the fact that Oklahoma beat a very good West Virginia team in a great Big 12 match-up, and you can see that there is a great balance between decent, good, and great Big 12 teams that allow it to be a middle of the pack Power Five conference team.

Bob Stoops is still full of it when he even tries to hint that the Big 12 is anywhere close to the SEC’s level, but the Sooners are a good team, and Oklahoma and Baylor have both proven that they could compete with any team in any conference. This week, conference play in the Big 12 mostly begins before it had a chance to prove just how good it was, but it has proven itself enough, and other conferences have proven to be bad enough, to vault it to No. 3 in our rankings.
