Saturday Blitz Top 25 Countdown Week 4

20. BYU Cougars: 4-0, Defeated Virginia 41-33 Last Saturday

Last Week’s Position: No. 22

The Cougars have earned the respect of the college football world. Over the past few weeks they have beaten Texas and Virginia, two teams that UCLA, another Top 25 team, also beat. With more of a quality schedule than many of the teams in these rankings, BYU deserves to be a Top 20 team right now as an Independent.

19. Michigan State Spartans: 2-1 (0-0), Defeated Eastern Michigan 73-14 Last Saturday

Last Week’s Position: No. 18

The Spartans didn’t fall because of how they played. The only fell because other teams deserved to rise. Still, their blowout win over Eastern Michigan was incredibly impressive, and it looks like they’re on their way to being fine after such a bad loss to Oregon two weeks ago. If the game were played later in the season with MSU linebackers gaining more experience, it would have been better.

18. Georgia Bulldogs: 2-1 (0-1), Defeated Troy 66-0 Last Saturday

Last Week’s Position: No. 16

The Georgia Bulldogs showed that they aren’t going to quit on the season simply due to a heartbreaking loss to South Carolina. They dominated Troy from start to finish and are still in great position to accomplish everything they wanted to accomplish. All it takes is another South Carolina loss. But playing Troy on its own is so unimpressive they had to drop a little bit.

17. South Carolina Gamecocks: 3-1 (2-1), Defeated Vanderbilt 48-34 Last Saturday

Last Week’s Position: No. 15

The Gamecocks struggled to put away a bad Vanderbilt team over the weekend, which was enough to drop them a couple of spots, but let’s be fair. This is a better Vanderbilt team ever since it made the change at quarterback, and the Commodores slightly caught the Gamecocks off guard. This shouldn’t be a problem going forward for them in the SEC East.

16. Wisconsin Badgers: 2-1 (0-0), Defeated Bowling Green 68-17 Last Saturday

Last Week’s Position: No. 17

The Badgers certainly showed they might be the best team in the Big Ten. They just dropped 68 points on a team by running the football the whole game! More than 600 yards of rushing offense was a Big Ten record, and who cares if it is against a bad Bowling Green defense? It’s still incredibly impressive.
