Saturday Blitz Top 25 Countdown Week 4

15. LSU Tigers: 3-1 (0-1), Lost to Mississippi State 34-29 Last Saturday

Last Week’s Position: No. 3

It’s hard to sell even putting LSU here after they were honestly blown out by Mississippi State over the weekend, but it can’t be ignored that the Tigers beat the Badgers to open the season and how their defense looked so great for 10 straight quarters before Saturday. All of that has to be taken into account, and one loss to a very good SEC team doesn’t change that.

14. Penn State Nittany Lions: 4-0 (1-0), Defeated Massachusetts 48-7 Last Saturday

Last Week’s Position: No. 14

The Nittany Lions didn’t jump or fall in this week’s Top 25 after blowing out a team that they should have blown out. But it’s still good news for them going into the week 4-0 and finally putting together a complete game. Right now they look as good as any Big Ten team, so there’s no reason not to have them in the Top 15 at the very least.

13. Arizona State Sun Devils: 3-0 (1-0), Idle Last Saturday

Last Week’s Position: No. 13

Arizona State had a well-deserved week off after opening the Pac-12 season with a very solid victory over Colorado. At 3-0, the Sun Devils are as much of a threat to win the Pac 12 South as anybody. Proving that starts this Thursday night with a huge game against the UCLA Bruins, who haven’t shown themselves to be too good so far this season but are 3-0.

12. UCLA Bruins: 3-0 (0-0), Idle Last Saturday

Last Week’s Position: No. 12

The UCLA Bruins at some point are due to put together a complete performance. With the way they struggled their first three games, the early bye week comes at a very good time. Now we get to see where they really belong with that Thursday night meeting against Arizona State and both teams coming off of a bye week. The offense has got to get it together soon.

11. Baylor Bears: 3-0 (0-0), Idle Last Saturday

Last Week’s Position: No. 9

Big 12 season finally starts this weekend for Baylor after the Bears spent the first three weeks of the season racking up style points against terrible competition before being off last week. The way they have looked is enough to keep them high in the rankings, but they finally get a decent test this weekend at a surprisingly decent Iowa State team.
