Saturday Blitz ACC Power Rankings Week 4

5. Clemson Tigers, 1-2 (0-1), Lost to Florida State Seminoles 27-17 in Overtime Last Saturday

At 1-2 with their only win against South Carolina State, the Clemson Tigers would not appear to be a team deserving of the No. 5 spot in any conference. But their two losses have been to college football playoff-caliber teams, including the best team in the country from a talent perspective in Florida State, even without Jameis Winston.

The Tigers should have won that game on Saturday and had way too many chances to win it to come away with a loss. With that in mind, they could make a case for even being higher on this list because they’ve improved over the past two weeks.

Now the ACC slate really begins, and Clemson needs to make a determination on who its full-time starter at quarterback will be if they are to continue to stay high on this list. Dabo Swinney has got a very good program, and there’s still lots of talent on this roster. That talent needs to reveal itself against decent teams, starting this weekend with a home game against North Carolina and then N.C. State, Louisville, and Boston College the following three weeks.
