Saturday Blitz ACC Power Rankings Week 4
10. Virginia Cavaliers, 2-2 (1-0), Lost to BYU Cougars 41-33 Last Saturday
When you consider the schedule the Cavaliers have had to open up the season, it might be a little unfair to put them all the way down at No. 10. Mike London’s fifth team has surprised everybody so far, and there is a good win with no bad losses on this 2-2 record.
The Cavaliers still have a great chance to go to a bowl game, and the offense finally showed just how good it is last Saturday. But once again, mistakes cost them with 2 turnovers to BYU’s 0. That’s very reminiscent of the UCLA game where the UVA offense gave up three touchdowns.
If Virginia is going to move up this list, the offense has got to stop making so many of the mistakes it’s been making, and it needs to start playing more consistent. The defense, despite giving up 41 points, was still fine for the most part. BYU is a tough offense to go up against, and Virginia only gave up 332 yards to BYU. A kickoff return for a touchdown and those two offensive turnovers are what gave the Cougars the victory, and the Cavs can’t move up this list until they start taking care of the football.
