Saturday Blitz SEC Power Rankings Week 4

6. LSU Tigers, 3-1 (0-1), Lost to Mississippi State Bulldogs 34-29 Last Saturday

It’s time to start raising questions about LSU. The defense is good but got torched on Saturday. The hyped up running game was nowhere near what we expected. And the passing game looked absolutely awful. We don’t want to take too much credit away from Mississippi State, but LSU got beat down in that game and only made it close thanks to a few fluke plays at the end of the game. The Bulldogs dominated the game from start until the final 3 minutes.

The only reason the Tigers are ranked higher than South Carolina, Georgia, and Arkansas on this list is because it can’t be ignored that they do have a quality win on their schedule in Wisconsin. And that’s looking more and more like a very strong win with the way the Badgers have been playing recently. LSU is still a very good team and will be in the heart of contention for the SEC West title. The season is not a loss yet. But they have to correct quite a few things, most notably finding some sort of consistency in the passing game. And the defense can’t fall flat on its face the way it did last Saturday.
