Mississippi State Shoots Up Week 4 SEC Power Rankings
Saturday Blitz SEC Power Rankings Week 4
4. Texas A&M Aggies, 4-0 (1-0), Defeated SMU Mustangs 58-6 Last Saturday
It’s a little unfair to drop the Aggies all the way to No. 4 after they were at the top of the power rankings and kept winning blowouts, but you can only get away with playing terrible teams for so long. It must be admitted that Texas A&M has a terrible non-conference schedule, and you can only hold onto that blowout win over South Carolina to start the season for so long. The Aggies still look great, though, and there’s no reason to think that they won’t remain an elite team throughout the year.
They will also have a chance to prove themselves as the season goes on in the SEC West, and that starts this weekend. The Aggies should beat Arkansas, but it would still be a nice win on the road against a very good team. Kenny Hill still looks like a Heisman candidate, Kevin Sumlin looks like the best offensive coach in the conference, and this team looks more complete than it’s ever looked before. But it’s time they prove themselves more than one nice opening-night victory with the month of September almost up. That’s why, for now, they have dropped down to No. 4 in our power rankings.
