Mississippi State Shoots Up Week 4 SEC Power Rankings
Saturday Blitz SEC Power Rankings Week 4
14. Vanderbilt Commodores, 1-3 (0-2), Lost to South Carolina Gamecocks 48-34 Last Saturday
The funny thing about putting Vanderbilt here is that the Commodores have actually looked better ever over the past two weeks after such a bad opening. It initially looked like the switch to Patton Robinette at quarterback made the difference, but Robinette was injured over the weekend, and the Commodores still hung tough with South Carolina, which nobody in the college football world saw coming. Perhaps Vanderbilt is getting better.
Even if that’s the case, Derek Mason’s Commodores still belong at the bottom of the SEC. At the end of the day, they’re still 1-3 with a blowout loss to Temple on the resume, and they needed a rally to get their only win of the year, which was against UMASS. Vanderbilt has still shown no signs of being anything special the rest of the year when you look at what’s still on the schedule, but one piece of good news is they might have a chance against Missouri, Kentucky, and Tennessee. For now, though, they belong at the bottom of the SEC. And things aren’t looking that much better.
